Colorado Road trip 2020

We were supposed to go to France and Netherlands but due to Covid19 our trip got cancelled and we had to come up with another plan. It was decided that we will go to Colorado. I always wanted to check it out during the summer since obviously it is a great place to go to during winter. 

We fully packed our pick up truck. We took everything we thought we will need as we wanted to camp out for few days too. Well, there were few things that we really did not need at the end but....

We had a lot of things planned and honestly, some things worked out and some didn't. Actually, things that we decided to do last minute turned out to be most memorable or fun.

Beach day

It was a lovely weekend, the weather was great and we did a lot of things together 😊 We went to Waukegan Beach and just walked around. It was 72 at our house but by the lake it was 59! Still, the sand was warm and it was so good to be outdoors!

Another day in quarantine. We ventured out 1st time since 5 weeks outside our neighborhood. We went to Meacham Grove Forest Preserve to walk around the lake and forest. It was sunny and a little windy but it was nice to walk around together, especially in the forest.

It's 2020 and ...

It's not what everyone thought it would be. New year, new decade and new, weird times that we live in. Covid-19 changed everyone's life. As of today, shelter in place has been in IL for over a month. I've been working from home, Gabi & Patrick will not return to school for the rest of the school year. They have been doing e-learing that really doesn't take them too much time during the day and they spend the rest of their days on their phones or playing Xbox. I worked my busy season hours as usual and tax due date was moved to July, which saved my life.
Kids haven't seen their friends for over a month but surprising they are dealing with that well. I must say that we are managing social distancing very well. We try to give each other space but at the same time want to do things together. We want to take advantage of the time we have been given. We are safe and healthy, we are ok financially and actually like each other.

Gabi's boyfriends

Here we are today, when my middle schooler has a boyfriend - Jackson Bui. Like typical kids this age, he texted her a question and she texted back. Jackson is her second one. Austin was her first - back in 5th grade.
Let me just explain, that at this age, they are boyfriends and girlfriends but nothing else changes - they really don't hang out together, they text but don't have dates. I really don't understand it - a sign that I am getting old, grrr.

Patrick - my deer

Patrick is a sweet nine year old. He is small and tiny and when he falls asleep, I hold his hand, brush his back, kiss him and play with his hair - trying to remember those moments when he is still little.

He is funny and makes fun of my accent. Last week I told him: "I love you dear" and he responded "I am not a deer, I am not that fast" - smart ass!

2018 Snow Day

Trip to Poland - vacation 2016

We are visiting Poland again! It has been two years. We remember a little but it is so great to see everyone again.
We arrived on Thursday, June 16th after flying Lufthansa airlines and had one stop in Frankfurt, Germany.
We spent the first two nights in Warsaw at mom's friend's apartment.  On Friday we toured Warsaw - the capitol of Poland. We saw the most important landmarks of this city. We went all the way to the 30th floor of Palac Kultury, we walked around Starowka to see Syrenka and Kolumna Zygmunta. It was fun but we were exhausted!

The next few days we spent in Los - at our cousin's house. Hela, Ewcia and Mania were joy to play with. We enjoyed their trampoline, sprinkler on a hot day and ice cream shop with sandy playground.

After that we traveled to our mom's hometown - Czarna Bialostocka. Here we played with another cousins - Ola and Pawelek. Here, we are able to go to the store all on our own and buy whatever we want - most of the time its ice cream or paczki!!!!
We went to Zalew many times and were able to jump in the water from the deck. It was so much fun.

Right now we are in Rajgrod, Knieja sport and recreation center when we are kind of part of Aikido camp. We will stay here for a week. It is located on the lake and we have been enjoying it a lot. In addition to that, we do many sports, walking in the forest at night (so scary) and playing with other kids. We can do a lot of things all by ourselves when our mom can relax in our room.

Patrick is hilarious, he has such funny ideas and laughs all the time! Sometimes he laughs so much that he can't walk. I love this boy!!! 

 Patrick loves this book. It is about boys with long hair believing that because of their long hair they have special powers! When we went to Florida, he saw and African American boy with huge afro hair do. You should see Patrick's eyes opening so wide. He came to me, pointed to this boy and whispered in my ears : "Mom, I think he has super powers"! I just smiled.
